Propecia (finasteride 1mg) was granted a UK product licence on 20th September 1999.

Therapeutic Indications

Propecia is indicated for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenic alopecia) to increase hair growth and prevent further hair loss.

Propecia is not indicated for use in women or children.

MSD, the makers of Propecia, does not believe that it would be appropriate for Propecia to be prescribed at the expense of the National Health Service (NHS).

Propecia has now been released for private prescription only in the UK.
